YDE Director and NDTA Honorary Member Awarded MBE
Linda Jasper, Director of Youth Dance England, has been awarded an MBE for services to dance in the New Year’s Honours List.
Linda is the founder and director of Youth Dance England, the national organisation that champions dance for children and young people in and beyond school. Originally trained as a dancer and then as a dance teacher, she has worked in dance throughout her career in a range of contexts including: dance company, local authorities, schools, universities and as director of a national dance agency.
In 2004 she started Youth Dance England, the first national organisation to create programmes and networks for young people’s dance. She is delighted to accept the award:
"Dance has always been a passion for me and I am very privileged to be able to make more opportunities available for people to enjoy dance. I am pleased to accept this award in recognition of the part I have played over a number of years, alongside many colleagues and friends, to create new initiatives in dance for the benefit of young people, artists, dance teachers & practitioners, as well as the wider public."
